NOT ONLY TRUCKERS DISOBEY SPEED LAWS

AFTER READING Raymond Lawrence's long-winded diatribe on the "longstanding tradition of lawlessness on I-81," I felt that he should be reminded that bad drivers can be found behind the wheels of all kinds of vehicles.

I commute to work via I-81, so I am very familiar with the scenario. Yes, some truck drivers disregard the speed limit, but they are not alone. The highways are full of drivers who behave in a reckless, careless manner indicative of the lack of respect and disregard for others that has become common in our society.

I doubt very seriously that the State Police are "on the take" from the trucking industry. I see several policemen on the highway daily, so I know they are trying to do their jobs. Truck drivers are not the only ones who own CB radios and radar detectors.

No one is above reproach, and every driver has his own collection of highway horror stories. My own horror story is one of a loved one being the victim of a drunk driver earlier this year. What about drunk drivers?
