BALLET TO OPEN DANCE SCHOOL

Roanoke Ballet Theatre will open its first school of dance at 116-B Kirk Ave. in downtown Roanoke.

Classes will begin on Sept. 5.

Roanoke Ballet Theatre was based at the Floyd Ward School of Dance for most of RBT's 12 years, but that association ended late last year.

The new school will train students aged four through adult and will be the training and rehearsal center for the company's corps of dancers.

The artistic director is Diana Gonzalez, an alumna of the National Ballet School of Canada and one-time scholarship student with the School of the American Ballet.
