MUSIC CENTER TO BREAK GROUND IN LATE 1993

Ground-breaking for a traditional Appalachian music center on Fisher Peak will not happen at least until the fall of 1993.

Completion on the concept is anticipated next year, and the preliminary design work in 1992. It will take four to five years to complete the project once construction starts.

Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, who was instrumental in getting federal funds for the project, said he had hoped ground-breaking could be in 1992, but it will take a little longer. The site has been donated by the city of Galax.
