BARBARA BUSH OFFERED ABINGDON INVITATION

Leaders in Washington County's Clean Virginia Program plan to invite First Lady Barbara Bush to a recognition day for its volunteers sometime next spring around Earth Day.

The program, started in the spring of 1989, received a 1990 Environmental Achievement Award April 19 from the National Environmental Awards Council for its work in litter control, recycling and education.
