\ CHRISTIANSBURG - Mary Kathleen Custer Akers, age 66, died Saturday, July 7, 1990, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Surviving are three daughters, Rebecca Ann Caldwell and Peggy C. Nixon, both of Roanoke; Barbara Sue Hensley, Christiansburg; one son, Ronald E. Caldwell, Salem; one great-grandchild she raised, Elizabeth S. Caldwell; one brother, Clyde Wesley Custer, Catawba; five grandchildren, Charles R. Heslep, III and Rhonda K. Caldwell, both of Roanoke; Dawn Kathleen Caldwell, Renee Hope Caldwell and Brian Stanford, all of Blacksburg; one great-grandchild, Christopher N. Caldwell, Roanoke. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday from the Richardson-Horne Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Hurd with burial in the family cemetery, Catawba. THe family will receive friends anytime after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
