\ BEDFORD - Cecil Clare Cheatham, age 85, of 1235 East Main Street, died Friday, July 6, 1990, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on May 18, 1905, a son of the late William Samuel Cheatham and Florence E. Witt Cheatham. He was a member of Bedford Baptist Church and had owned and operated C.C. Cheatham Plumbing and Heating for 58 years. He is survived by his wife, Delma Perdue Cheatham; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda C. and Turner E. Hopkins of Thaxton; a sister, Elizabeth C. Stanley of Bedford; four grandchildren, Beth Hopkins Robertson, Amie Joy Hopkins, Leah Marie Hopkins and Joshua Edward Hopkins, all of Thaxton. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Brenda C. Hopkins. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Life Saving Crew.
