\ BURKES GARDEN, VA. - Frances Miller Davis, age 87, of Franklin, Va., formerly of Burkes Garden and Tazewell, Va., died Saturday in a Franklin, Va. hospital. Born in White Gate, Va., she was a daughter of the late William T. and Osie Bane Miller. She was a member of the Burkes Garden United Methodist Church and was a retired school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Davis Sr. Survivors include two sons, Donald A. Davis, Franklin; James R. Davis Jr., Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Lucille Miller, Pearisburg; Mrs. C. Chapman Straley, Eggleston, Va.; three brothers, W.T. Miller, Blacksburg; Joe Miller and Bob Miller, both of Poplar Hill, Va.; six grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Burkes Garden Central Church Cemetery in Burkes Garden, Va. with the Rev. Kenneth Conner officiating. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Burkes Garden Cemetery Association, Box 451, Burkes Garden, Va., 24608. Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell is in charge of the arrangements.
