STITH BACK FOR TRYOUTS

University of Virginia standout Bryant Stith is among 16 basketball players who will report to Duke University today as U.S. national team tryouts resume.

Mike Krzyzewski, coach of Duke and the U.S. team, has said he will cut the roster to 15 or fewer players sometime before the training period ends July 17. The squad, which was pared to 16 during earlier tryouts in Durham, will play in the Goodwill Games from July 23-29 in Seattle.

After playing in the Goodwill Games, the U.S. team will face the Soviet Union in a nationally televised exhibition Aug. 4 in Atlanta. The squad then will travel to Argentina for the world championships Aug. 8-19. - Staff report
