TECH TOPS METRO LIST FOR ACADEMIC HONORS

Virginia Tech had a conference-leading 116 students on the 1990 Metro Commissioner's List, which honors athletes who earned a 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better during the past academic year.

Almost one-fifth of the Metro-record 605 athletes who made the list were Hokies. Cincinnati had 108 and South Carolina 105.

A conference-record 18 athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA during the 1989-90 school year. - Staff report
