CUSTODIAN FOR CITY IS CHARGED

A city custodian has been charged with assisting in the theft of a computer from a Roanoke office building, police said today.

Sandra A. Wells, 32, of the 300 block of Gilmer Avenue Northwest, was charged Monday with being a principal in the second degree to grand larceny.

Wells' brother, 22-year-old Benjamin Christopher Wells, also has been charged with the grand larceny of a $970 computer, police said.

The computer was taken from the city annex building on West Salem Avenue in late June. Charges were filed this week, after the computer was pawned at a Vinton store.
