HIGHLAND GAMES SCHEDULED FOR GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN

The 35th annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and Gathering of Scottish Clans will take place Thursday-Sunday in Linville, N.C.

Among the activities planned are:

Thursday (5-9 p.m.) - Pipe band performances; sheep herding demonstrations; torchlight ceremony.

Friday (2 p.m.-1 a.m.) - Piping concert; Scottish country dance gala.

Saturday (8 a.m.-9 p.m.) - Track and field events; Tartan ball.

Sunday (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) - Parade of Tartans; clan tug of war.

Adult tickets to the games are $10, Saturday; $8, Sunday. Children's tickets are $4.
