Emergency Services Coordinator David Laurrell said the ban was necessary because of the heat and wind combined with the lack of rainfall in recent weeks.
"It's dried things out to the point that if we got something going it will be tough to stop," Laurrell said.
The ban will be in effect until weather conditions change, he said.
