MADE-RITE RECALLS CHICKEN SALAD IN FIVE STATES

A Greensboro, N.C., company is recalling 3,600 pounds of chicken salad from five Southeastern states because of possible bacterial contamination, the Agriculture Department said Tuesday.

The voluntary recall by Made Rite Foods affects the company's "Sedgefield Chunky Chicken Salad" sold in 7- and 12-ounce plastic tubs.

The affected containers are stamped "sell by Aug-02-90" on the bottom and bear the establishment number P-7408 on the USDA inspection seal on the label.

The product was distributed to retail grocery stores in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Consumers who bought the affected food were asked to return it to the place of purchase.
