Certainly, had Marshall Coleman been elected and chosen to operate in a similar manner, the media would have pounced on him and brought him to heel for an immediate accounting. The General Assembly may well have called a special session to explore the most expeditious course for his ouster.
So why this inaction with Wilder? Other states and their media are probably flabbergasted that the General Assembly and the Virginia press have allowed this situation to go unchecked for as long as it has.
I think that an all-out citizens' protest is imperative. Now is the time for letters, phone calls and personal visits to our House and Senate members, urging them to do what they must to preserve the integrity and proud image of our state from further debasing.
