COMMITTEE TO OVERSEE BUILDING OF COMPLEX

Salem City Council, at the recommendation of City Manager Randy Smith, has appointed a committee to oversee construction of the James I. Moyer Sports Complex.

The committee, made up of Smith, Councilman Sonny Tarpley, City Attorney Steve Yost and Finance Director Frank Turk, will have the authority to approve change orders up to $15,000.

The $1 million complex, named for a former mayor and retired judge, will be built on 25 acres off Colorado Street. The land was donated to the city in 1988 by Graham-White Manufacturing Co.

In other business, council voted to move the the Beverly Heights voting precinct's polling place from the Bank of Shawsville to the Fort Lewis Christian Church fellowship hall. The bank had requested that the polls be moved.
