DINNER THEATER IS BACK

Dinner theater returns to Roanoke on Aug. 3 with the opening of a production of "Chapter Two" at the Holiday Inn Salem.

The Neil Simon comedy will run through Sept. 1.

The show will be directed by Bart McGullion, a former artistic director of the Barn Dinner Theatre. McGullion also produced and directed seven plays at the Airport Marriott's Shenandoah Showcase in 1989, the most recent incarnation of dinner theater in the Roanoke Valley.

Spokeswoman Julie Becker said further shows are a possibility at Holiday Inn Salem if community response to "Chapter Two" is strong enough.

"Chapter Two" is a fictional retelling of the playwright's meeting, courtship and marriage to actress Marsha Mason after the death of his first wife.

McGullion will appear in the play along with Joyce K. Norris, Melanie Turner and Jeffrey McGullion. All have appeared at the Barn Dinner Theatre and Shenandoah Showcase except of Turner, who is making her Roanoke debut in "Chapter Two."

Dinner will start at 6 p.m. in the hotel dining room, with the show following at 8 p.m. in the ballroom.

Tickets are $18.95 per person for dinner and the play and $10.95 for the play only. Taxes and gratuity are extra. Group rates are available. Credit cards are accepted. Reservations are required. The number is 389-7061.
