The wife - who had refused to cooperate with authorities - was in court to support her husband.
"The bottom line was she doesn't think her husband should be prosecuted for this," Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Deborah Roe said after Wednesday's trial.
Lorin Raymond Oleson, 50, was charged with two counts of solicitation to commit murder after striking a deal with an undercover Hampton police officer in the parking lot of a Hampton restaurant.
Roe said Oleson contacted a friend of his, who lives in Hampton, and asked if he would kill his wife, Darlene Oleson. She said the friend, Russell McKeithan, contacted police because he was afraid Oleson would go through with the scheme.
