TRANSPORATION BILL FACES ROUGH ROAD

A bill that earmarks $27 billion for roads, bridges, airports, railroads and commuter rails next year cruised through the House only to face a potential pothole: budget talks.

"We may not be able to keep this one after the budget summit," Rep. Lawrence Coughlin, R-Pa., said Thursday before the House passed the spending bill, 385-31.

The overall bill for the Transportation Department and related agencies totals $31 billion, with the bulk covering money for various projects.
