LICENSE RENEWAL CAN BE CHARGED

Motorists now can use their Visa or MasterCard to pay for vehicle registration renewals and many other transactions at the Bedford branch of the state Department of Motor Vehicles, 1629 Forest Road.

The program is part of a pilot project to offer additional services to DMV customers. If the project is successful, credit cards will be accepted at all DMV branch offices. In addition, customers will be able to use their credit card number to renew vehicle registration through the mail.

A service charge of 3.5 percent will be added to credit card transactions. In this way, the cost of this service will be paid for only by customers using it.
