Miss Vera Lewis Maupin, age 95, of Route 7, died Friday, July 13, 1990, in a Salem nursing home. She was born in Bedford County on May 19, 1895, a daughter of the late Boyce Edison Maupin and Savilla Lewis Rickard Maupin. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by a niece Mrs. Alfred (Lorraine) Mann of Roanoke; 3 nephews, Frank K. Saunders of Roanoke; Harry Ballard Maupin of Birmingham, Ala.; Malcolm L. Fisher of Edgewaer, Md.; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Oakwood Cemetery, Sunday, July 15, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Carl H. Douglas officiating. Memorials may be made to either the Bedford Life Saving Crew or the Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund. Friends may call anytime at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home.
