COMPANY SUED OVER MAN'S DEATH

The widow of a 28-year-old Martinsville man killed in an automobile accident last August has filed a $5 million lawsuit against MW Manufacturers Inc. of Rocky Mount.

The lawsuit alleges that Curtis Dale Prillaman's car was forced off U.S. 220 in Franklin County by a tractor-trailer operated by MW employee Claude Andrew Tyree.

Martinsville lawyer Philip G. Gardner alleges that Prillaman's death Aug. 25 was the "direct result" of the company's negligence.

A spokesman for MW could not be reached for comment Friday.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Franklin County Circuit Court on behalf of Norma D. Prillaman.
