TIRED OF ELECTED OFFICIALS' COWARDICE

I AM GETTING sick and tired of our elected representatives' cowardice and spinelessness when it comes to dealing with the problem of our national debt.

These people are elected to represent us to the best of their abilities, and I fail to see how our best interests are served when our elected officials refuse to realistically face this issue and the possibility of higher taxes because it will hurt their chances for re-election. This attitude clearly denotes an air of self-preservation rather than of service to the people who put them there.

No one wants higher taxes, but please give the American public some credit. We know we have a big problem and it will take some big people to solve it. However, we will recognize those who do this job well. BILLIE L. MILLS BLACKSBURG
