UMW'S ODOM HEADS NEW COMPANY

Mike Odom, who led the Pittston Coal Group through a long, bitter strike with the United Mine Workers last year, has been named president of a new company, Pittston Coal Production Corp., which will set policy and oversee the Pittston Co.'s two coal-producing subsidiaries, the coal group of Lebanon and Pyxis of Abingdon.

Odom, 39, assumes his new job at the end of the month. It's not been decided yet how his position with the coal group will be filled, he said. -
