\ MARION - James Oliver Porter, age 84, died Saturday, July 14, 1990, at his home in Marion. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Moore Porter of Marion; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley (Maryann) Cassell of Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. John (Martha) Major of Williamsburg, Va.; Mrs. Paul L. (Mary) Blevins of Marion; two sons, Michael Porter of Meadowview, Va.; Robert (Bobby) Porter of Roanoke; one brother, Walter Porter of Hubor Heights, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Oleen Roper of Pickens, S.C.; Mrs. Inez Merck of Columbia, S.C.; Mrs. Louise Morter of Loveland, Col.; Mrs. Mildred Preibisch of Murray, Ky.; nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Willard Reedy officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
