\ MARTINSVILLE - William Garland DeWitt, age 74, of Route 5, Martinsville, died July 14, 1990, in the V.A. Medical Center. He was a member of D.A.V., Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion Post No. 11. Surviving are six sisters, Elizabeth D. Patterson, Lillian Barbour, Barbara DeWitt, Lucy Dewitt, all of Route 5, Martinsville; Mamie D. Patterson, Baltimore, Md.; Lorene Coleman, Route 2, Rocky Mount; two brothers, Royal DeWitt and John Dewitt, both of Route 5, Martinsville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Lynch Chapel by the Rev. Berlin Hanks. Interment will follow in the DeWitt Family Cemetery. Friends may call at Lynch Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Monday where the family will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Those desiring to may make memorials to the Snow Creek Rescue Squad or Fire Department.
