\ WYTHEVILLE - John Edward Selfe, age 67, died Sunday, July 15, 1990, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Washington County, Va. and had lived in Wytheville for the past six years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was employed by the L.E. Myers Company before his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 12, the V.F.W. Patton Crosswhite Post No. 6975, and the Pleasant View United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Polly Campbell Selfe; five sons, Don Selfe and Kenneth Selfe, both of Christiansburg; Eddie Selfe, Bland; Allen Selfe, Sumter, S.C.; Greg Selfe, Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. Becky Collins, Wytheville; four brothers, Earl G. Selfe, Kingsport, Tenn.; Claude Selfe, Tallahassee, Fla.; Jack Selfe and Jerry Selfe, both of Abingdon; three sisters, Mrs. Nell Lilly and Mrs. Mary Raines, both of Bristol, Va.; Mrs. Ora Roe, Piney Flats, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol. Pallbearers will be his sons. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Farris Funeral Chapel. Farris Funeral Service of Abingdon is in charge of arrangements.
