FORMER NORFOLK STATE QB KILLED

An argument over another man's driving led to gunfire that claimed the life of Ronald Jones Jr., the starting quarterback for Norfolk State in 1988. Jones was 22.

Also wounded in the shooting Friday night in Washington, D.C., were two of three other people in the car in which Jones was riding. Both were expected to recover, police said.

The altercation occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the capital's Northwest section when the car in which Jones was riding was approaching a red light and "another car cut them off," said a D.C. homicide investigator said.

Jones and the driver of the other car got out. "The lone black male initiated a verbal argument with Jones, produced a handgun and shot three of the four men in the car," the investigator said. The gunman got back in his car and drove off.

Police said they have no suspects in the shooting.
