OBIT-PALMER, H.

\ Herbert Walter Palmer, age 89, of Roanoke, died Monday in a local hospital. He was retired from United Iron & Metal Company. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Sherwood Palmer; two daughters, Betty Jane Thayer, Virginia Beach; Lucille McManaway, Roanoke; three step-daughters, Juanita Snead, Mildred Garlick, June Hudgins; a step-son, Carl Sullivan, all of Roanoke; nineteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 1990. Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
