Roanoke Valley labor unions will rally around striking Greyhound bus drivers on Wednesday. The rally, sponsored by the Roanoke United Central Labor Council, will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the council's headquarters on Williamson Road. Expected to attend are state AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Danny LeBlanc and Del. Jackie Stump, a member of the United Mine Workers executive board.

\ Interest rates on short-term Treasury securities fell in Monday's auction to their lowest level in six months. The Treasury Department sold $9 billion in three-month bills at an average discount rate of 7.62 percent, down from 7.81 percent last week. Another $9 billion was sold in six-month bills at an average rate of 7.52 percent, down from 7.75 percent. The average yield for one-year Treasury bills, the most popular index for adjustable rate mortgages, rose to 8.09 percent last week, up from 8.06 percent the previous week.

\ Charley's Restaurant and the Roanoke Comedy Club will open today in the former Wood-Nichels building at 213 Williamson Road, near Roanoke City Market. The comedy club was at Patrick Henry Hotel.
