NATIONAL LEAGUE-NOTES

The World Series will start Tuesday, Oct. 16, three days later than originally scheduled, in the home park of the National League champion.

The series originally was scheduled to start Oct. 13, a Saturday, but was set back because of the owners' lockout that delayed the start of the season by a week and forced some games to be played after the planned end of the regular season.

This will be the first Series since 1984 to start on a weekday.

The NL playoffs start Oct. 4 in the home park of the West champion. The American League playoffs start Oct. 6 at the home of the East champion.
