GOVERNOR NAMES TWO TO EDUCATION GROUP

A Blacksburg resident and a Roanoke resident were among 15 appointed by Gov. Douglas Wilder to the Monitoring and Advisory Committee. The committee is responsible for advising the secretary of education on all aspects of the Virginia Plan for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.

Joyce F. Williams-Green of Blacksburg is a graduate of Virginia Tech, Lehman College, the City University of New York and North Carolina Central University. She is assistant provost at Virginia Tech.

Lewis M. Nelson Jr. of Roanoke, vice president of Sovran Bank, is a graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina, the University of North Carolina, Rutgers University, Indiana University, Columbia University and the University of Virginia.
