Owens, who also hears cases in Giles County, is scheduled for surgery Thursday and is expected to be released this weekend, a Pulaski court clerk said.
Radford Circuit Judge Duane E. Mink and former Pulaski County Circuit Judge R. William Arthur, who is retired and living in Wytheville, will hear Owens' Pulaski cases while he is recovering.
In Giles County, Mink and retired Circuit Judge Robert Powell are scheduled to handle Owens' cases, said court clerk Ted Johnson.
Owens suffered the heart attack after he began complaining of chest pains at his home in Pulaski on July 8. He was taken to Pulaski Community Hospital and later transferred to Roanoke.
