UVA PROTESTERS GIVEN COMMUNITY SERVICE

The last four of 31 protesters charged with trespassing during a University of Virginia protest have had the charges against them dropped in exchange for 10 hours of community service.

The protesters, all UVa students, were charged April 19 with trespassing for refusing to leave the Rotunda after a forum on UVa's investments in South Africa. The charges were dropped Tuesday in Albemarle County General District Court.

The students were protesting UVa's investment of $15.5 million of its $460 million endowment in companies with South African interests. The UVa board voted in May to sell those investments.
