HENRY STREET FESTIVAL IS SET FOR SEPT. 29

A Henry Street Heritage Festival featuring entertainment, crafts, visual arts and ethnic and traditional foods is set for Sept. 29 on Henry Street (First Street Northwest) in Roanoke.

The event will be presented by the Harrison Museum of African American Culture in observance of the museum's fifth anniversary.

Performing live at the festival will be Plunky Branch and Oneness, Reflections, Jane Powell, the All Natural African Dancers, the Resurrection Gospel Opera Choir, Gatsby Productions and the Henry Street Players.

A Greek Step Show and various children's activities also are planned.

Space is available for artists and craftspersons who wish to show and sell their work. Fees, applications and information are available from Jamila Coleman at 345-4818.

Food vendor applications are available from Mac McCadden at 362-8995.

Volunteers are needed for the pre-festival setup and to staff the festival itself. Sign-up sheets can be obtained by calling the museum (345-4818) or visiting it at 523 Harrison Ave.
