REDESIGN SOUGHT OF RICHMOND FLAG

The way City Councilman William Golding sees it, the capital of the Confederacy is overdue to abandon the Confederate flag as an official symbol - more than 125 years after the Civil War ended.

City Council on Monday will consider a proposal by Golding to appoint a committee to redesign Richmond's flag.

Golding said he is looking for a flag "that would unite the city of Richmond, rather than divide it."
