BARTER THEATRE SHOW PLANNED FOR FESTIVAL

The musical "Pump Boys and Dinettes" opens Wednesday at the Barter Theatre and will play through Aug. 18, and be performed during the main part of the 42nd annual Virginia Highlands Festival.

The festival - featuring flea markets, arts and crafts and cultural activities - was started by the late Robert Porterfield, who also launched Barter. It generally brings more than 100,000 people to Abingdon and will run this year from July 28 through Aug. 12.
