GALAX SEEKS TO HIRE 911 JOB COORDINATOR

The Twin County E-911 Regional Commission serving Galax and the counties of Carroll and Grayson is receiving applications for the job of E-911 coordinator.

Glen Stanley, who has moved to North Carolina, resigned the position last week after four months "to pursue other interests." Kim Cox, assistant Galax city manager, and William Mitchell, assistant Carroll County administrator, will be handling the duties until a new coordinator is named.

Applications will be accepted by Mitchell through Sept. 5.

Commissioners are also evaluating proposals from seven consulting firms for mapping, data management and other services for the region. Wilson said the number should be narrowed to three within 30 days, and those would be interviewed by the full commission.
