TOO MUCH CRUISING IN PASSING LANE

IN REFERENCE to recent letters about speeding by truckers on Interstate 81, I have observed that most of the difficulty lies with passenger vehicles foolishly cruising in the left lane.

The left lane is for passing and the right lane for pulling back into afterward. If people who are doing all the complaining would follow this rule and quit sightseeing in the passing lane at 55 and 60 mph, they'd have a lot less trouble with irate truckers on their bumpers.

It's not up to motorists to try to enforce the speed laws by impeding traffic. If a vehicle wants to pass, pull into the right lane and let it by. If the driver is speeding, then the police will deal with him on down the road. When I come up behind one of these left-lane road hogs, sometimes I'm tempted to do a little bumper-nudging myself.
