FLOYD MAN KILLED; SON, 32, CHARGED

A 60-year-old man was found beaten to death Wednesday night at his home in the Pilot area and his son was charged with murder.

Harold L. Sowers, 60, was found shortly after 9 p.m.

Donald Ray Sowers, 32, was arrested later that night and charged with murder. He was being held in the Floyd County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond, according to the Floyd County Sheriff's Department.

Sowers' death was still under investigation and no further details were available.
