Peach Festival to aid programs for children
\ The Northwest Child Development Center will sponsor its annual Peach Festival Wednesday through July 27 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Crestar Plaza in downtown Roanoke.
Shortcakes will be sold for $2.75 and sundaes for $2.50. Advance tickets are available at the center, 1523 Melrose Ave. N.W. or by calling 343-0223.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the center's educational and developmental programs.
Music teachers' group elects new officers
\ Roma Scriven has been elected president of the Roanoke Valley Music Teachers Association.
Other officers are: Margaret Kidd, president-elect; Mary Alice Bowman, vice president; Elaine Graybeal, recording secretary; Jean Lovejoy, corresponding secretary; Marie Brown, treasurer; and Larry Arthur, historian.
Crossroads Lions Club elects 1990-91 officers
\ Sheila Moses has been installed as president of the Crossroads Lions Club for 1990-91.
Other officers are Linda Williams, first vice president; Sharon Johnson, second vice president; Mary Lindsey, third vice president; Nadine Harris, treasurer; Becky Shaner, secretary; Kathy Singletary, lion tamer; Marie Saul, tail twister; Sue Alouf, one-year director; Betty McLawhorn, two-year director; and Lucille Payne, special membership chairman. Martin E. Gardner has been named Lion of the Year by the Williamson Road Lions Club in recognition of outstanding service during the 1989-90 club year.
The club also elected officers for 1990-91. Allen W. Kendrick was elected president, assisted by William T. Bryan, Jacques D. Arnold and Robert W. Boyd as first, second and third vice presidents, respectively.
