Frank R. Meade, experienced in policy strategy and marketing program development, succeeds Don Overly, who died in December.
"We are excited to have someone of Fred's abilities, and we look forward to an aggressive marketing program for the Corporate Research Center," Paul Torgersen, president of the center, said in a statement.
The center, located on 120 acres near campus, has more than 100,000 square feet of office and laboratory space still available for lease. The center is a subsidiary of the private Virginia Tech Foundation.
While in Tampa, Meade was an associate with Grubb and Ellis, the nation's largest independent commercial real estate firm. He also served as general manager of an 880-acre commerce park.
As a former executive director of the Greater Tampa Committee of 100, a promotion and development group, Meade was director of economic development for the city's Chamber of Commerce.
Meade holds a bachelor's degree in communication arts from the University of West Florida, where he did graduate work in public administration and political science. He also studied at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.
