PULASKI MAN CHARGED WITH ARMED PILL THEFT

Police have charged a Pulaski man in the July 1 armed robbery of more than $7,000 in prescription pills from a Pearisburg drugstore.

Keith Duane Hall, 29, of Bunts Street was arrested Wednesday.

Two cashiers and a pharmacist at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the Magic Mart shopping center told police a gunman jumped over the counter, pointed a revolver at the pharmacist and demanded specific narcotic painkillers.

After emptying the store's limited supply of the drugs, the gunman ran behind the shopping center and disappeared.

Hall is charged with armed robbery and using a gun to commit a felony. No bond has been set, Police Chief Bill Whitsett said.

"We're still investigating the matter," he said. "We've had a number of similar incidents in the area."
