ROSE'S SON MISSES GAME TO BE WITH DAD

Pete Rose II skipped his game Thursday night with the Class A Frederick Keys to be in Cincinnati, where his father was sentenced to a five-month prison term for filing false income tax returns.

Frederick manager Wally Moon said Rose left the Keys to be with his family during the Carolina League's All-Star break on Tuesday. Thursday night's game against the Lynchburg Red Sox was the Keys' first game after the break, but Moon said Rose was not expected to return to the team before today.

Rose, who played a doubleheader Monday after missing two weeks with a right hamstring pull, is batting .248 with one homer and 33 RBI. - Associated Press
