Ferba Turman Archer, age 83, of Route 2, Max Meadows, Va., the Fort Chiswell Community died Friday, July 20, 1990, in the Radford Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 22, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris and the Rev. Vaughn Earl Hartsell officiating. Interment will be in the Archer Family Cemetery. She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late James and Polly Gravley Turman and was a member of the Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a half brother, David Tilson. She is survived by her husband, H. M. "Hass" Archer, Sr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ms. Pauline Nichols of Wytheville; Opal and Paul Jackson of Route 2, Max Meadows; three sons and daughters-in-law, John D. and Minnie Archer of Richmond, Va.; James Kelly and Martha Archer of Wilmington, Del.; H. M. Archer, Jr. of Route 2, Max Meadows, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Hicks of Wytheville, Va.; three half sisters, Mrs. Mae Tilson of Pulaski, Va.; Mrs. Henry (Helen) Parks of Pulaski, Va.; Ruby Spelling of Detroit, Mich.; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday or at the residence at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
