POLICE CHARGE MAN IN SPREE OF THEFTS

A man charged with stealing a woman's purse at Roanoke Memorial Hospital this week is a suspect in at least 14 similar thefts at Roanoke hospitals, downtown banks and other office buildings, police said Friday.

Edward James Hudson, 30, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Roanoke Memorial and charged with the grand larceny of an employee's billfold.

Since then, he has been charged with three other thefts and has admitted to at least 14, police said today.
