POLITICAL ANTICS IN ROCKY MOUNT

I STUMBLED with disbelief through the July 1 article, "Woody ruled Rocky Mount." Being a 17-year-old, politically "interested" citizen of Franklin County, I never gave town politics concern. That is, until the unbelievable political antics began to grab my attention.

I am appalled at the cutthroat antics of public servants and how the gentle citizens of Rocky Mount could stand for this insensitive intimidation. Yes, Woody has achieved many beneficial accomplishments for the town, but the manner in which those goals were attained was through a "mayor-controlled" (dictatorial) process and was beyond a doubt discourteous.

The position of mayor is to serve and aid the public. The small town of Rocky Mount should be grateful for the term "ruled" being in past tense, and hopeful that Broadus Shively will restore the courteous and respectable tradition of Franklin County government and citizenship.
