BERNIE LANGHEIM, vice president and general manager of Cox Cable Roanoke, hasreceived a Silver Leadership Award from the national headquarters of Junior Achievement Inc. The organization works with fourth- through 12th-grade students, providing information and experiences in business and economics.
\ JEAN W. CROFT has been named Woman of the Year by the Downtown Roanoke Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She is vice president and securities operation custody manager at Dominion Trust Co., the trust affiliate of Dominion Bankshares Corp.
\ SUE WHITLOW has been elected president of the Shenandoah Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She is vice president of Dominion Trust Co. Other officers elected were: NEDRA GORDON, vice president; MARGARET HENDERSON, secretary; ELAINE FRANKLIN, treasurer; and LORI SHULTZ-MOORE, corresponding secretary.

GOVERNMENT
LAURA TANNER BULLOCK has been named community-affairs officer for the Virginia Department of Transportation's Salem District. She is the liaison with the news media, elected officials and community groups in the 12-county district.
\ HENDRIK SCHMIDT has been named international-market planning manager for the Virginia Department of World Trade in Norfolk. He will be the department's liaison between Virginia's graduate business schools and state businesses. International Market Planning projects involve foreign market research studies on specific products for individual companies.
MANUFACTURING
ROY KENT, formerly of Roanoke, has been named director of programmed distribution for Moog Automotive Inc. in St. Louis, Mo.
\ GILBERT A. WHEELER has been promoted to manager of operations services for corporate quality assurance at McCormick & Co. Inc. in Hunt Valley, Md. He was technical sales manager of national accounts at Golden West Foods, Inc., McCormick's subsidiary in Bedford.
