Despite her high-profile involvement in a breast cancer awareness campaign, the Quayles appeared reluctant to disclose full details of her operation, even keeping secret the hospital where it was performed.
A statement released Saturday by Quayle's press secretary, David Beckwith, also did not reveal what the actual diagnosis was.
