OBIT ABSHIRE, R.

Robert R. Abshire Sr., age 57, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, July 20, 1990. He was a member of the National Hills Baptist Church and was an insurance adjuster for Crawford and Company. He was predeceased by his wife, Phillip Ann Gardner Abshire. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine E. Abshire and Kimberly L. Abshire, both of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Robert R. Abshire Jr., Augusta, Ga.; Phillip G. Abshire, Richmond Hill, Ga.; two sisters, Josephine Newman, Burlington, N.C.; Marguerite (Mag) Rathburn, Bordentown, N.J.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Gardner, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, with the Rev. Kelly Dampeer officiating. The family will receive friends from Oakey's North Chapel from 12:00 noon until time of service Tuesday.
