WYTHE COUNTY MOVES ANNUAL SPORTS BANQUET

The annual Wythe County Sports Hall of Fame awards, originally scheduled for Aug. 2 at Fort Chiswell High School, have been moved to the Factory Merchants Mall because of construction work at the school.

Chuck Hamm, a former Fort Chiswell and George Wythe high school football coach and now state supervisor of health and education for the state Department of Education, will be the main speaker at the 7 p.m. banquet.

Scheduled for induction into the Hall of Fame are Kent Umberger, Charles Freeman, R. William Arthur, Danny Copenhaver and the late Roy Irvin. Tickets are $7, and will be available at the door.
